Lung Cancer Awareness| Duluth GA

lung cancer awareness

For over 25 years, our sister store, Angela Krause Ford was known in the community as Cherokee Ford. However, on February 17, 2015, we lost our beautiful, smart and caring daughter, Angela, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Angela, or “Angie” as she was known to friends (of which she had many), was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer (ALK) three days after giving birth to her second child, Mason. Angie left behind Mason and her daughter, Ava, as well as her loving husband, Blake.

Angie was our younger daughter and was a wonderful sister to Jennifer and our two sons, Matt and Zack. She began her career at Cherokee Ford in Woodstock and ultimately became General Manager of Cherokee Lincoln of Alpharetta. To honor her memory, we changed the name of our business to Angela Krause Ford.

Changing our name was only the beginning, though. Since Angie’s passing, we have been committed to making a difference in our community and in the greater fight against lung cancer. Even though lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality, it receives far less research funding than any other cancer. We are working to change that.

We are a proud supporter of the Chris Drafty Family Foundation, a charity that helps increase education and research related to the rare form of lung cancer that Angie suffered from. It’s one of the nonprofit organization’s many worthwhile initiatives, and you can donate directly to it here.

The month of November is particularly important to us, as it is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. To that end, for every vehicle sold during the month, the Krause Auto Group will be donating to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation . The Lung Cancer Research Foundation aims to improve lung cancer outcomes by funding research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer. It’s an organization that works with and supports lung cancer survivors, advocates, researchers and healthcare professionals throughout the United States. The money we raise will go directly to fund vital research and patient programs that will save lives. Together, we can bring hope to those affected by lung cancer.

Angie’s love for her children, family, friends and employees was unmatched. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about her or miss her greatly. So we thank you for your support and continued love for Angie, and we appreciate everything you are doing to help us realize the goal of a cancer-free world for us all.
