The Difference Between AMG® and Non-AMG® Models in Atlanta GA

amg model difference

Even if you are well-acquainted with the Mercedes-Benz lineup, the AMG® line can be difficult to define. Thrilling power, one-of-a-kind handling and sporty design may come to mind, but the team here at Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta Northeast knows it goes deeper. AMG® is the high-performance sibling of Mercedes-Benz, the perfect blend of adrenaline and luxury, precision and spontaneity. It’s an obsession with driving performance. Engines, robust. Details, exact. Because when you round it all up, the wind in your hair and the subtle forward lean as you press the gas will tell you what it’s worth. It all started in 1967 when two engineers began turning Mercedes-Benz sedans into winning racecars; today, AMG® is a race that knows no finish line.

What's the difference?

AMG® is a family of pure performance cars from the Mercedes-Benz brand, but the powertrain, drivetrain and styling packages can also apply to a non-AMG® Mercedes-Benz. AMG® essentially builds upon what's already perfected and goes into a more athletic, track-ready angle. Non-AMG® models from Mercedes-Benz will still excel in performance, tech and luxury — AMG® raises the spice level. We’ll compare the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 SUV with its AMG® counterpart, the AMG® GLB 35 SUV, to see the difference together

Enhanced power.
From the table above, you can see that the 2021 AMG® GLB 35 takes the standard 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo engine from the GLB 250 and gives it the classic AMG® enhancement. You’ll have an increased boost from the rapid-multi spark ignition and high-pressure direct injection, reduced friction and 295 lb-ft of torque. All it takes is 5.1 seconds for the AMG® GLB 35 to sprint 0-60 mph, but don’t worry — the AMG® High-performance Braking System can be applied at any time, and the AMG® Performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive keeps your GLB grounded on tight turns and corners. With an AMG®, controlled power is a given.

Optimized exterior.
When a Mercedes-Benz becomes an AMG®, it receives a sporty facelift. For the GLB, you’d see a deep front apron with large air intakes, black outer flics and a matte chrome splitter — all designed to turn heads on the street while optimizing performance. Poised on 19-inch AMG® twin 5-spoke wheels, the AMG® GLB 35 SUV has serious attitude.

Athletic interior.
Welcome to your ultramodern cockpit. Outfitted with standard styling features that were merely available on the non-AMG® model, the AMG® GLB 35 SUV has supportive sport front seats, brushed stainless steel pedals, an AMG® Performance sport steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles and AMG® floor mats. Radiance is taken to a whole new level with 64-color LED ambient lighting and illuminated air vents, and so is your luxury experience with Mercedes-Benz.

High-functioning tech.
Technology receives a major upgrade with AMG® models — available features become standard, like the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster display and the 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display in the AMG® GLB 35 SUV. New features are available, like the AMG® Head-Up Display (for “floating” information that keeps your eyes on the road) and AMG® Track Pace for MBUX (for storing performance data from the GLB in the MBUX system). And ultimately, your vehicle’s performance is aided with world-class technology.

You’ll probably feel it best when you’re on the open road.
