Model Overview

The Range Rover Velar comes with a choice of two different engines. At the bottom of the range is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged unit making 247 horsepower. Even with the base engine, Land Rover claims the Velar will hit 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, making the Velar pretty quick with this engine. For drivers who need even more power, a 3.0L turbocharged 6-cylinder makes 394 horsepower good for 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Velar is available in four trims for 2025, though Land Rover offers several specification packs for a few of the trims, giving buyers more choices than what's obvious. The Velar is offered in P250 S, P250 Dynamic SE, P400 Dynamic SE and P400 Dynamic HSE.

At its core, the Range Rover Velar comes with 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, heated power folding auto-dimming mirrors with a nifty approach light, heated front seats, a rearview camera and adaptive cruise control. The interior includes an 11.4-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and satellite radio, voice activated navigation system, and 5 USB ports.

The P400 trims add a hybrid powertrain with a 48-kWh battery pack, they feature an adaptive suspension, regenerative brakes, black exterior accents, and sport pedals.

The P400 Dynamic HSE also adds an air ride suspension, 21-inch wheels, 12-way power front seats with massaging lumbar, cooled front seats, leather upholstery, and 2 12V DC power outlets.

Safety features across the lineup include front and rear parking sensors, active lane departure, an active blind spot warning system, forward collision mitigation, rear collision warning, a driver attention alert, traffic sign information, and a rear pedestrian detection system.

Model Value

The Velar looks like it should cost considerably more than it does. At its low price and with its unique packaging it means it does not have much company. The BMW X4 is about it. While the German automaker has also attempted a similar combination of SUV coupe, the end results aren't nearly as cohesive as the Velar. The Velar does features more interior cargo room and at the end of the day, it looks better.
